Subgroups: Look a Level Deeper

Turn on Subgroups and capture multiple levels of card placement. This PRO feature allows participants to drag one grouping of cards into another grouping.

When it's time to analyze the results, the results pages allow special handling of the subgroup data by bubbling results up to the top parent or viewing only the lowest child. This special handling helps solve for the complicated analysis typically associated with subgroups.

Participant Sort Replay: Gather More Than Data

Participant Sort Replay brings insight into typically blind un-moderated card sorting. This PRO feature logs every decision made by your participants. Each time they sort a card, create a new group, or rename an existing group, the time and action is logged.

Use the Participant Sort Replay page to step through the captured log and see the final results built before your eyes. See how long the participant paused between moves, how they named and renamed groups and which cards got more attention. Highlight a specific card or group to track the evolution of it throughout the sort.

Results Views: Analysis from Every Angle.

Frequently the most challenging part of a card sort is making sense of the results. Simple Card Sort provides many different views of the data including:

Plus, if you need to you can download most results as a csv format(excel readable) file.

Unlimted Projects & Participants: Test & Retest

Frequently the path to understanding the mental model of your users is easiest when you take it step by step.

Simple Card Sort does not limit the number of tests, or participants during a subscription period. Start with an open sort to gather information on category naming. Then try a closed sort to understand groupings. Follow up with smaller sorts to find the best ordering.

Sort Type: Open, Closed or Hybrid

An Open card sort gives the participant the control to make and name all the groups.

In a Closed card sort the facilitator (you) create and name the groups. The participant only needs to categorize the cards.

A Hybrid sort begins as an open sort - allowing the facilitator to create and name groups - but allows participants to add new groups or rename existing ones.

In-Group Ordering: Understand the Priority

Enable in-group ordering to capture the order of each card within a group. Participants can order and re-order till they are happy.

This PRO feature also provides results views that shows you the position of each card within the group, and summarize the minimum, maximum and average position of every card.
